Lexus has expanded its fully electric vehicle lineup in Latvia with the arrival of three latest models: the RZ 350e, RZ 500e, and the performance-oriented RZ 550e F SPORT. The expanded RZ range demonstrates Lexus’s continued development and innovation in electric vehicle technology, as the automotive market increasingly shifts toward sustainable transportation options.
Key updates to the RZ lineup include increased range, faster charging capabilities, an enhanced version of the Lexus DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system, a “steer-by-wire” electronic steering system, battery pre-conditioning, a comprehensively redesigned and refined suspension tuned by Takumi experts, and increased body rigidity. To create a more refined and relaxing cabin atmosphere, noise and vibration-isolating elements have been strategically placed throughout the vehicle.
The new, high-capacity 77 kWh battery increases the range of the RZ 350e model to 559 km (WLTP). Charging performance has also been significantly improved, with the onboard charger now supporting up to 22 kW AC charging. DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Improved battery pre-conditioning – warming or cooling – optimizes charging speed and ensures high performance even in cold climates.
Lexus’s New “Steer-by-Wire” Electronic Steering System
The new RZ is the first model to feature Lexus’s new “steer-by-wire” electronic steering system. The system aims to create a closer connection between driver and vehicle through intuitive operation, ease, and comfort. The traditional cockpit is complemented by a new-shaped steering wheel, freeing up more space around the driver.
This new system differs fundamentally from conventional steering systems, as there is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Instead, driver steering operations are converted into electronic signals and transmitted to the steering actuator.
Steering response is instantaneous, and the steering angle between extreme positions is only 200 degrees, providing precise control, reduced driver effort, and excellent maneuverability. The new steering system is designed to provide the driver with an intuitive and inspiring driving experience and will debut in the RZ 550e F SPORT, and will be available as an option on the Lexus RZ 500e.
New Lexus DIRECT4 All-Wheel Drive System
The new all-wheel drive (AWD) RZ models are equipped with Lexus’s DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system, which enhances grip and stability.
The system automatically adjusts power distribution between the front and rear axles, continuously adapting to driving conditions. A key improvement is the expanded torque distribution range. With increased system power, the torque distribution between both axles has been significantly improved in all driving conditions, providing a smoother and more precisely controlled driving experience that further emphasizes Lexus’s signature light handling feel.
The interior of the new RZ embodies the Lexus Tazuna philosophy – a driver-focused cockpit layout inspired by the harmony between rider and horse. All controls are positioned to minimize unnecessary eye and hand movements, improving concentration, safety, and ease of utilize.
The refined interior atmosphere is created by the use of premium materials, high-quality assembly, and a calming ambiance. Additional sound insulation and sound damping solutions provide exceptional quietness throughout the cabin. An innovative interior design element includes laser-cut Ultrasuede decorative graphics.
the ambient illumination has been enhanced with a new Dynamic Shadow lighting effect – three LED light sources create moving light patterns on the door panels, giving the cabin an even more expressive and dynamic atmosphere.
Additional technical enhancements include increased chassis rigidity, an improved suspension, and modern noise suppression materials, resulting in a quieter and more composed ride. The RZ 550e F SPORT stands out from the other models with its dual high-power motor system, sporty design elements, and Interactive Manual Drive mode, which simulates gear shifting for a more engaging driving experience.
Each new Lexus RZ includes a 5-year maintenance program covering all manufacturer-specified maintenance and parts at authorized Lexus service centers across the Baltic states, up to 100,000 km of mileage.
The new, fully electric RZ is now available for viewing at Lexus showrooms and is available for purchase starting at €59,900. Test drive vehicles are expected to arrive in Latvia in the coming weeks.
