CI Games showcased the first gameplay footage of Lords of the Fallen II at The Game Awards (TGA) 2025, offering a glimpse into the dark fantasy action RPG. The trailer highlights the series’ signature grim atmosphere, brutal combat, and the return of the dual-world design featuring Axiom and Umbral.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Lords of the Fallen II is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store. CI Games emphasized a “players-first” design philosophy, promising a faster, more aggressive, and varied experience compared to its predecessor. The game’s development reflects a broader trend in the industry towards prioritizing player experience and responsiveness in action RPGs.

Players will once again assume the role of a Lampbearer, capable of traversing the boundary between the world of the living and the realm of the dead. A key new feature is a dismemberment system, allowing players to sever enemy limbs, alongside cinematic execution moves that add a dramatic flair to combat encounters. The combat system has been redesigned to be more fluid, responsive, and demand greater precision.

The debut trailer also introduced three initial boss encounters: Heartroot Warden, a massive armored knight wielding a chained greatsword; Koydreth, a winged creature attacking from rune-inscribed mirrors; and Lingao the Souring Storm, a colossal dragon controlling wind and lightning. These bosses demonstrate CI Games’ ambition to deliver more spectacular and diverse boss battles.

Ahead of the sequel’s launch, CI Games has released a substantial 2.5 update for Lords of the Fallen (2023). This update includes significant revisions to enemy and boss behavior in both Legacy mode and the new, extremely challenging Veteran Mode.

Bosses now feature new attack patterns, quicker transitions, and more aggressive AI. Several boss weapons have also received updated signature animations. This update represents the final major patch for the 2023 title, following over 70 updates since its initial release.

To attract new players, CI Games is offering a 50% discount on Lords of the Fallen (2023) across various platforms for a limited time.
