PSG coach Luis Enrique urges squad to respond after Lyon defeat ahead of Nantes clash
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has called on his players to move quickly past their 2-1 Ligue 1 loss to Lyon and focus on the upcoming match against Nantes.

Speaking on Monday, Enrique emphasized the necessitate for a strong reaction from his squad, urging them to show greater intensity and commitment in Wednesday’s fixture at the Parc des Princes.
“I expect much more from all the players,” Enrique said, reinforcing his demand for improved performances as PSG aim to maintain their position at the top of the table.
The coach also addressed questions about his recruitment strategy, stating that signing numerous players would have been “ridiculous” and defending his approach to squad building.
PSG will face Nantes on Wednesday evening in a rescheduled Matchday 26 encounter, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. CET. The match comes as the Parisians continue their pursuit of a historic double, having won both the Ligue 1 title and Champions League last season.
Midfielder Vitinha will miss the game due to heel inflammation, with Enrique confirming the Portuguese international’s absence and expressing uncertainty over his availability for the upcoming Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.
Fabian Ruiz, returning from a three-month layoff due to a knee injury, featured briefly in the Lyon loss and is expected to potentially fill in for Vitinha, though Enrique cautioned that the Spaniard still needs more match time to regain full fitness.
The PSG boss acknowledged Ruiz’s return as a positive step but stressed that patience is required as the veteran midfielder works back to peak condition.
Enrique concluded by reiterating his expectations for the squad, insisting that every player must raise their level as the team pushes for success on multiple fronts this season.
