Dauphin County Man Arrested After Fleeing Police During Traffic Stop, Drugs Found in Vehicle

A man with outstanding warrants was taken into custody yesterday after attempting to evade officers during a traffic stop, leading to the discovery of drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to the Fairview Township Police Department.

The traffic stop occurred around 3:30 p.m. on October 9th in the 700 block of Limekiln Road in New Cumberland. During the stop, officers discovered narcotics and related drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Investigators identified a passenger, Tarazia Coltraine, 24, of Harrisburg, as having multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.

When officers attempted to apprehend Coltraine, he allegedly fled the scene, initiating a brief pursuit before being captured a short distance away. He now faces additional charges of flight to avoid apprehension and evading arrest. Such attempts to evade law enforcement often carry increased penalties due to the added risk to public safety.

The Fairview Township Police Department encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity and reminds individuals with outstanding warrants that proactive surrender is often the most sensible course of action. For information on outstanding warrants in Pennsylvania, resources are available through the Pennsylvania Courts website. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Fairview Township Police Department.

Officials stated the investigation is ongoing.
