“Manai Dzimtenei” Concert: Sign-Ups & New Conductors

Preparations are underway for a grand concert, “Manai Dzimtenei” (“To My Homeland”), and individual performers still have the opportunity to participate. As of April 28, 2026, over 650 singers have already joined the initiative “Dziedam Kopā” (“Singing Together”), which allows anyone to join the concert’s mass choir.

The surge in interest comes as many singers, who are not currently part of a choir or whose choirs aren’t scheduled to perform at “Manai Dzimtenei,” have reached out to organizers expressing their desire to be involved.

Adding to the excitement, internationally renowned Latvian conductor Ainārs Rubiķis has joined the team of principal conductors for the concert. This announcement underscores the connection between Latvians in the diaspora and their homeland. Rubiķis, who spends the majority of his professional career outside of Latvia, stated, “It is a great honor for me.”

Also joining the conducting team is Jānis Liepiņš. The concert, set to take place on July 11, 2026, at the Dziesmusvētku estrāde “Sidraba birzs” (Silver Birch Stage), promises to be a significant cultural event. The addition of these conductors highlights the event’s ambition and artistic caliber, signaling a major moment for Latvian choral music.
