TAG Heuer has launched a new solar-powered watch model, the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph Solar Quartz, unveiled at the Watches and Wonders 2026 salon. The 40mm timepiece is crafted from titanium and features the TH50-00 calibre, co-developed with La Joux-Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
According to the brand, just one minute of exposure to sunlight or artificial light provides 24 hours of operation. A full 40-hour charge delivers up to 10 months of autonomy, or as long as four years in power-saving mode.
The movement incorporates discreet solar cells positioned beneath a translucent dial with horizontally brushed sun-ray grooves. This version of the solar technology was introduced two years after Carole Forestier joined TAG Heuer as master watchmaker.
In an interview with the New York Times, Forestier commented on the potential cross-application of solar energy harvesting: “The harvesting of solar energy within the movement is very interesting; although electronic movements differ from mechanical ones, they resemble each other when it comes to making movable wheels function,” adding that insights from solar technology could eventually be applied to mechanical watches.
