Congolese essayist and literary critic Mavi Diabankana, born in Brazzaville in 1996, has develop into a prominent voice in his country’s literary scene. His writing explores the tensions between traditional African civilization and modern society, analyzing the inherent contradictions of their coexistence. The author’s work is gaining attention as African literature continues to find a wider global audience.
Diabankana is one of five writers selected for a 2026 writing residency at MEET in Saint-Nazaire, following a review of submitted projects. The residency offers a valuable opportunity for creative development and cultural exchange.
A one-hour meeting with Diabankana is scheduled as part of the residency, and will be free to the public with reservations made at 0244734560. During the residency, led by Patrick Deville, the Congolese writer will continue work on an upcoming novel.
