Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver After Severe Crash in Downtown Kaunas
A woman was injured Tuesday morning in a severe hit-and-run collision in downtown Kaunas, prompting an active police search for a driver who fled the scene.
According to the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat, the incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at approximately 9:50 a.m. The collision took place at the intersection of Karaliaus Mindaugo Avenue and Birštono Street, where a Volkswagen struck a Mercedes-Benz.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a woman born in 1994, sustained injuries in the crash and received medical assistance. Police report that the driver of the Volkswagen abandoned the vehicle and left the scene immediately following the impact. that individual remains at large.
