The investigation, now entering its second week, involves local police, the Orava Rescue System, and concerned volunteers, who are meticulously tracking Osadský’s last known route via surveillance footage and public appeals. Authorities are urging anyone with facts regarding his whereabouts, particularly those near the Námestovo bridge and Orava Reservoir, to come forward as investigators work to determine what happened after he was last seen crossing the bridge.
Authorities in Slovakia are continuing a widespread search for Marek Osadský, 48, who has been missing since December 28, 2025. The case has drawn the involvement of police, volunteers, and family members as investigators piece together his last known movements.
Osadský, a resident of Dlhá nad Orava, left his home for a walk around 2:00 PM on December 28th and did not return. Family members became concerned when he failed to make contact and reported him missing later that evening.
Those who know Osadský describe him as an active individual who enjoys traveling and frequently takes walks in the Orava region, sometimes hitchhiking. Friends say it is uncharacteristic for him to disappear without informing anyone of his whereabouts, prompting the extensive search effort.
Bus Surveillance Provides New Leads
Recent surveillance footage has provided investigators with new clues regarding Osadský’s movements. Žilina Regional Police reported that Osadský boarded a bus in Dlhá nad Orava at 5:18 PM on December 28th. He exited the bus in Tvrdošín, at the Medvedzie housing estate near the Tesco supermarket, at 5:36 PM.
Further investigation revealed that Osadský continued his journey by boarding another bus at the Tesco in Tvrdošín at 5:56 PM. He arrived at the bus station in Námestovo at 6:14 PM.
Last Seen Crossing a Bridge
The Orava Rescue System released additional video footage and information on January 8th. “Marek Osadský exited the bus in Námestovo on December 28th at 6:14 PM and headed towards the Námestovo bridge, which he crossed. Currently, we do not have confirmed information about his movements after crossing the bridge over the Orava Reservoir,” the search team stated on social media.
His destination after crossing the bridge remains unknown. The Orava Rescue System is asking anyone who traveled by bus or was in the vicinity of the Námestovo bridge or Orava Reservoir around 6:14 PM to come forward with information. “We ask anyone who was in the area of the Námestovo bridge, near the Orava Reservoir, or noticed Marek after 6:14 PM to contact us immediately,” the search team said. Police and volunteers are also following up on other leads regarding his movements in Námestovo.
Description of Missing Man
Osadský is approximately 5’9” tall with a stocky build, short gray hair, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, light brown shoes or sneakers, a dark-colored jacket without a hood, and a black hat.

Family and friends remain hopeful for his safe return. They believe even seemingly insignificant details could be helpful in locating him. “Any information regarding the missing person should be reported to the toll-free telephone number 158, at any police station, or via private message on the official Facebook page of the Police Force,” Žilina Regional Police urged the public.
