Mexico City authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of Edith Guadalupe, a 21-year-old woman whose body was found in the parking garage of a building in the Benito Juárez borough on April 17, 2026.
According to the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office, Juan Jesús “N,” who worked as a security guard at the building where Guadalupe was last seen, has been detained in connection with her death. Investigators say he attacked her with a screwdriver during an altercation inside the building’s security booth before hiding her body in the basement parking area, covering it with sand.
Guadalupe was reported missing on the morning of April 16, 2026, after entering the building for a job interview. Her body was discovered the following day.
Forensic evidence collected at the scene includes a preliminary medical examiner’s report, criminalistics analysis, and bloodstains found in the security booth. The suspect is expected to be presented before a judge to determine his legal status.
Bertha Alcalde Luján, head of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office, confirmed the arrest in a video statement, noting that the killing took place in the security booth and that the suspect had assaulted Guadalupe repeatedly with a screwdriver.
The case has drawn public attention amid ongoing concerns about gender-based violence in Mexico. Officials say the investigation remains active, including scrutiny of a government employee allegedly involved in extorting money from the victim’s family.
