Nancy Wilson Pens New Lyrics Honoring Early Heart Associate Mike Fisher

Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson has written new lyrics as a tribute to Mike Fisher, a key figure in the band’s early history who passed away in August.

Wilson shared the lyrics on her “Something Good” blog, confirming to Ultimate Classic Rock via a representative that she recently penned the piece to honor Fisher. Fisher was instrumental in the formation of Heart, beginning with his brother Roger Fisher’s co-founding of The Army in 1963, which evolved through various names before becoming Heart. Both Fisher brothers were also romantically linked to the Wilson sisters – Mike with Ann, and Nancy with Roger.

While credited with various roles within the Heart organization, including management, Fisher described himself as a versatile supporter, eventually handling sound for the group throughout the 1970s. “I never aspired to be a label in the music industry. I just had this vision for what those people could become and I was totally fired up and passionate about it,” he shared in a 2013 interview. His influence is also recognized in Ann Wilson’s song “Magic Man,” inspired by Fisher himself. The band is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, a testament to the foundations laid during these early years. Wilson reflected on Fisher’s impact, stating he was “the perfect catalyst” for the young group, praising his “sharp business brain.”

The newly written lyrics offer a poignant remembrance:

I can see your eyes
Oh brother brother I can see your eyes
Searching through our time
Oh brother brother I can see your eyes
They tell me
They tell me all is not lost
A story
A victory over darkness we shall prevail
Swinging the world by the tail
Angel Angel
I can hear your laugh
Oh brother brother I can hear your laugh
Present and the past
Oh brother brother I can hear your laugh
The river
Forever dance to the sea
Remember
We sing your song
Always telling your magical tale
Sipping on the holy grail
Angel Angel
Sipping on the holy grail
Swinging the world by the tale
Angel Angel

Wilson shared that she sent Fisher a voicemail expressing her gratitude before his passing, and was heartened to learn it brought him peace. Heart will continue the Royal Flush tour in 2026, and Wilson is scheduled to appear at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this year. You can explore more about the band’s history on their official website, and learn about the impact of figures like Fisher on the broader music landscape at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The band is scheduled to finish the current year with tour dates starting November 12 in Las Vegas.
