Clara Brugada, head of government for Mexico City, launched the National Public Health Week on Sunday, April 26, 2026, emphasizing the importance of measles vaccination for both children and adults up to age 49.
Speaking at the Monument to the Revolution, Brugada highlighted that the campaign aims to strengthen protection against measles, noting that vaccination is essential not only for children but also for adults to prevent transmission across age groups.
She stated that the vaccine should be administered to children from birth, with a booster dose recommended for individuals up to 49 years old.
Brugada announced that approximately 1,000 personnel would lead the vaccination efforts, with 600 stationed in basic education schools—from preschool to secondary—and another 400 deployed at strategic locations across the city, including vaccination kiosks.
The initiative forms part of Mexico’s broader public health strategy to ensure equitable access to vaccines and prevent outbreaks of preventable diseases.
