New Jersey Voters Head to Polls Today for Gubernatorial and Local Elections
New Jersey residents will cast their votes in the gubernatorial and local races today, November 4, after early voting has concluded.
Polls across the state are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Election Day voting, and mail-in ballots can still be returned via mail or secure ballot drop boxes – provided the box is located within the voter’s county of residence. Ballots postmarked by today will be counted if received by county officials within six days. Voters can confirm their assigned polling location using the New Jersey Division of Elections polling location search tool.
The gubernatorial race features Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill of Montclair, a former Navy pilot endorsed by Governor Phil Murphy and former President Barack Obama, and Jack Ciattarelli, a former state assemblyman and the 2021 Republican nominee for governor, who has received backing from President Donald Trump. This election will determine the next leader of the Garden State, as current Governor Phil Murphy is term-limited after serving two consecutive terms. The outcome will significantly shape the state’s direction on key issues like education and the economy.
For more information on candidates and issues, residents can visit the official New Jersey Elections website. County election officials will begin tallying results after the polls close this evening.
