Odfjell Reports $38 Million Fourth-Quarter Profit Amidst Challenging Market Conditions

Odfjell reported a net profit of $38 million for the fourth quarter of 2025, according to a company filing. The results come as the shipping industry navigates a period of increased market uncertainty.

The company’s earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached $52.6 million, a decrease from $59.0 million in the third quarter. Time charter revenues also declined to $168.2 million, compared to $173.3 million in the previous quarter. Earnings per share for the quarter were $0.48.

“The fourth quarter concluded a year marked by significant uncertainty and more demanding market conditions,” said Odfjell CEO Harald Fotland. “The 2025 result is a testament to the strength of our business model.”

Looking ahead, Odfjell anticipates that its underlying net result for the first quarter of 2026 will be slightly lower than that of the fourth quarter.

The board has approved a dividend of $0.50 per share for the second half of 2025, totaling approximately 378.8 million Norwegian kroner. Combined with previous distributions, the total dividend related to the 2025 results will be $0.98 per share, or a total of 738.7 million kroner.

During the quarter, Odfjell launched the first operational green corridor for deep-sea shipping between Brazil and Europe, a self-funded initiative aimed at increasing the use of sustainable biofuel. The company also secured contracts for two new builds of 35,000 deadweight tons, slated for delivery under long-term time charter agreements in 2028 and 2029.

The news comes as the broader shipping market faces headwinds, with reports indicating a weaker performance for the sector overall.
