Omaha Athletics Announces Promotions for Several Key Staff Members
Omaha Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell announced promotions for multiple members of his cabinet and senior staff today, October 14, 2025, signaling a restructuring aimed at bolstering the department’s operational strength.
Matt Maher has been promoted to Senior Deputy Athletic Director, serving as the department’s Chief Operating Officer and overseeing strategic planning, sport administrators, and key internal units like business, human resources, and facilities. He has negotiated contracts resulting in millions of dollars in revenue and savings for the institution. Lindsey Ekwerekwu is now Deputy Athletic Director / Senior Woman Administrator, responsible for student-athlete success and serving as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletic Equity. Camden Stockton was elevated to Executive Associate Athletic Director – External Affairs, with oversight of communications, marketing, and ticketing. Dr. Taryn Ninemire will now serve as Executive Associate Athletic Director – Athletic Performance, continuing to lead the department’s innovative holistic student-athlete support programs, including a partnership with OrthoNebraska.
Additional promotions include Ethan Anderson to Associate Athletic Director – Event Management, Billy Sanders to Assistant Athletic Director – Equipment Services and Brand Management, and Abbey Henrichs, who adds Assistant Athletic Director – External Operations to her existing role as the University’s Director of Events. Henrichs played a key role in activations surrounding the men’s basketball team’s first-ever March Madness appearance. These changes come as college athletics navigates a period of significant transformation with the introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for student-athletes.
“Our success as an athletic department is driven by the talented people who lead every day behind the scenes,” said Dowell. “These promotions reflect our continued commitment to growing Omaha Athletics, enhancing the holistic experience we provide for our student-athletes and positioning our department for sustained success in a new era of college athletics.” The department expects these changes to streamline operations and enhance support for its 16 sport programs.
