Opel is set to unveil a facelift for the Astra in early 2024, with a renewed focus on advanced automotive technologies.

For the second generation in a row, Opel is prioritizing technology as a key differentiator for the Astra, offering features not typically found in the compact car segment. The latest iteration centers around its lighting systems. While the previous generation Astra was among the first in its class to introduce Matrix LED headlights, the updated model boasts Intelli-Lux HD lighting, featuring a segment count that rivals premium automotive brands.

Opel will officially present the refreshed Astra at the Brussels Motor Show in January. However, details of the vehicle’s updates are already emerging. The vehicle will feature a modernized Opel Vizor design, complete with an illuminated Blitz logo integrated with LED light strips. The Intelli-Lux HD headlights, equipped with 50,000 light-emitting elements, are designed to provide optimal illumination without blinding oncoming traffic. This technology is becoming increasingly important as automakers focus on safety and driver assistance features.

Interior enhancements are also planned. The Astra will now include ergonomic seating as standard across all trim levels, and all interior surface materials will be made from 100% recycled materials. Opel is also increasing the range of the electric Astra, extending its WLTP-certified range to 454 km (approximately 282 miles) on a single charge – a 34 km improvement. The electric Astra will also offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power external devices like e-bikes or other equipment using a standard outlet. Both the hatchback and station wagon versions of the Astra will receive these updates.
