Rosario city officials have condemned a planned event by a local union that featured virtual participation from individuals linked to Palestinian militant groups.
The event, organized by the local chapter of the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Palestine Action Assembly, was scheduled for Friday evening at the union’s headquarters on San Lorenzo Street. It was promoted as part of Prisoner’s Day observances and announced the virtual participation of Osman Bilal and Nader Sadaqa, described by organizers as former prisoners and activists residing abroad.
Gabriel Dobkin, president of the Rosario chapter of the Argentine Israelite Association (DAIA), expressed strong opposition to the activity, stating it constituted a serious concern for the community. Rosario Mayor Pablo Javkin echoed this sentiment, declaring it unacceptable for a union to promote or disseminate information about individuals involved in terrorist violence.
In a public statement shared via social media on April 17, 2026, Mayor Javkin affirmed his full support for DAIA’s complaint against the union, emphasizing that such actions are intolerable. The provincial government responded by deploying security forces to the venue to prevent the gathering from taking place, according to confirmed reports.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions surrounding public events that reference groups designated as terrorist organizations by multiple governments, underscoring the sensitivity of such discussions in the current security climate.
