A parent of a minor player formerly with Palmeiras’ youth system and a club member brought the allegations to light.

Fabio Adamo has significant family ties within the soccer world, being the nephew of former Brazil national team coordinator Edu Gaspar, who currently serves as global director of football for the group owning Nottingham Forest of England.

He is also the son of Jorge Adamo, a former director and council member of Palmeiras.

Adamo leveraged his connections and access to youth tournaments to allegedly approach young players.

If the internal investigation recommends Adamo’s expulsion, the decision will be put to a vote by the club’s Deliberative Council.

In a statement released Monday, February 23, 2026, Palmeiras confirmed that, “in light of the seriousness of the allegations reported by UOL, including a conviction for the crime of soliciting and harassing children, club president Leila Pereira has determined this morning the preventative suspension of member Fabio Barreto Bueno Adamo for a maximum period of 90 days, as stipulated in the club’s statutes, and has requested the immediate commencement of an internal investigation to properly assess the case.”
