Paris Jackson Disputes Estate Payouts, Family Expresses Financial Concerns

Paris Jackson is challenging financial dealings within her late father Michael Jackson’s estate, alleging improper payouts to estate lawyers, while sources close to the family express worry over her spending habits.

According to court documents revealed yesterday, attorneys John Branca and John McClain stated Jackson has received approximately $65 million in benefits from the estate. The estate, which was reportedly $500 million in debt at the time of Michael Jackson’s death in July 2009, is now valued at nearly $2 billion, largely due to the attorneys’ management. A source speaking to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack alleged Jackson “is living like a rock star,” spending lavishly on private jets, designer clothing, and luxury travel.

Financial records indicate Jackson received an allowance of $3,273,681 during a one-year period from January 2021 to December 2021, including $18,500 monthly for rent, $26,000 for travel, and over $123,000 to a music production company. This contrasts with allowances of $2,128,511.38 for her brother Prince and $1,053,085.99 for her brother Bigi during the same period. Jackson’s legal team is specifically contesting $625,000 in payments made to law firms in 2018 for “uncaptured time,” arguing the payments appear to be “lavish gratuities.” You can learn more about estate planning and trusts at the Investopedia website.

The dispute is currently limited to Paris Jackson and the Jackson estate; her brothers, Prince and Bigi, are not involved in the lawsuit. This legal battle highlights the complexities of managing a high-profile estate and the potential for disagreements among beneficiaries, a common issue in celebrity estate settlements. Further court proceedings are expected as Jackson seeks accountability for the contested payouts, as reported in US Magazine.
