Nearly 300 Minnesota Workers to Lose Jobs as Paving Material Provider Closes 14 Facilities
Nearly 300 workers will be permanently laid off beginning December 19, 2025, after OMG Midwest, Inc., operating locally as Minnesota Paving & Materials, announced the closure of 14 facilities across central and southern Minnesota.
The company recently filed a Worker Adjustment and Restraining Notification (WARN) letter with the State Rapid Response team detailing the impending shutdowns. Affected facilities are located in Becker, Mankato, New Ulm, Kasota, Owatonna, Rogers, Rosemount, Comfrey, Waite Park, St. Cloud, and Lakeland. A complete list of addresses can be found here.
OMG Midwest, Inc. evolved from four local companies to become a leading provider of asphalt, aggregate, and paving services in the state, according to its company website. The closures represent a significant shift in the Minnesota construction materials landscape and could impact upcoming infrastructure projects. The Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development received official notice of the layoffs.
Company officials have not yet released a statement regarding the reason for the closures, but the WARN notice indicates the layoffs are permanent. State officials are preparing to offer assistance to the affected workers in their job search.
