The city of Saint-Jean-d’Angély is inviting residents to join a community workshop to create decorations for the upcoming October Rose and Health Prevention 2026 campaign.
Scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m. Local time, the event will grab place at the Salle Aliénor-d’Aquitaine in Saint-Jean-d’Angély. Organized by the municipal government, the participatory workshop aims to bring together residents, local organizations and volunteers to craft handmade adornments that will be displayed throughout the town center during October.
According to city officials, the initiative is designed to foster community engagement although raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and broader public health messages. No prior experience is required to participate, as organizers will provide simple, accessible tutorials for all skill levels.
The city is specifically seeking volunteers who have access to sewing machines to help create fabric bunting garlands, as well as residents willing to donate craft supplies. Requested materials include brightly colored yarn in shades of pink, blue, yellow, orange, and green; fabric strips approximately 20 by 50 cm made of cotton or similar material; and pinking shears.
Donations of supplies can be dropped off at the Maison du Vivre Ensemble, located at 1 place François-Mitterrand in Saint-Jean-d’Angély, no later than April 25, 2026.
This annual campaign, observed each October, uses visual symbols like the pink ribbon to promote early detection and education about breast cancer. By involving the public in the creation of campaign decorations, Saint-Jean-d’Angély aims to strengthen local solidarity and amplify prevention efforts through creative, inclusive action.
