The Valentine’s Day event kicks off on Tuesday, February 10th at 10:00 AM and runs through Sunday, February 15th at 8:00 PM, giving trainers just under a week to take advantage of the special features. This limited-time window adds a sense of urgency for players hoping to maximize their rewards.
Details of the Pokémon GO Valentine’s Day Event
Beyond the opportunity to catch rare Pokémon, the event offers significant player benefits. Trainers will experience double XP for every Pokémon caught, accelerating their progress. Opening gifts from friends will yield double Stardust, a crucial resource for powering up Pokémon. The event also boosts the chances of encountering Shiny Nidoran, both in the wild and when hatching Eggs. Cherubi will also appear more frequently in 7 km Eggs.
For collectors, a special opportunity awaits: players can change their Furfrou’s style to the Heart Trim form during the event. This cosmetic change requires 25 Furfrou Candies and 10,000 Stardust. Pokémon GO’s customization options continue to expand, offering players more ways to personalize their experience.
Niantic is also introducing a community-based challenge. If players collectively send a large number of gifts, additional bonuses will be unlocked for all participants. These include a free timed research task featuring encounters with Spinda, 750 bonus XP for every curved ball throw, and Rare Candies hidden within opened gifts.
The game map will see an increased presence of thematic Pokémon, with Nidoran (both male and female) and Furfrou taking center stage. Audino will also appear more frequently, offering a substantial Stardust reward upon capture. The increased spawn rates encourage players to explore their surroundings and discover these Pokémon.
Trainers interested in raids will find Gardevoir and Gallade appearing in level 3 raids. Evolving a Kirlia during the event guarantees a Gardevoir or Gallade with the powerful Syncro Noise Charged Attack, a typically rare move. These raid-exclusive Pokémon will already have the move learned upon capture. Exclusive Field Research tasks will also be available, offering encounters with event-themed Pokémon.
