Sosnowiec, Poland – Funeral arrangements have been announced for Łukasz Litewka, the 36-year-old member of parliament from the Left party who died in a tragic bicycle accident.

According to Sosnowiec Mayor Arkadiusz Chęciński, Litewka will receive a state funeral, with the ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Sosnowiec.

The funeral mass will be held at the parish church of St. Joachim, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Local time.

Litewka, a Sosnowiec resident and organizer of numerous charitable initiatives, died on Thursday after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

His passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues across the political spectrum, who remembered him as a dedicated public servant and community advocate.

The state funeral designation reflects the recognition of his service as an elected official and his contributions to local civic life.
