PRS Guitars is releasing the Silver Sky Wild Blue Limited Edition, a highly anticipated variant of the popular John Mayer signature model. The new guitar, limited to 1,000 units worldwide, marks the first time the Silver Sky will be offered with a color-matched headstock.
The Wild Blue finish was initially explored during the early stages of the collaboration between PRS and John Mayer, serving as a prototype colorway. Despite its potential, the color wasn’t released with the Silver Sky’s initial launch in 2018 – until now. This limited edition finally brings the distinctive hue to market.
Beyond the striking finish, the Wild Blue edition is the first Silver Sky to boast a headstock finished to match the body. Previous limited runs, such as the Nebula and Lunar Ice models, did not include this detail.
The guitar’s body is constructed from alder with a flat top. The maple neck is attached to the body using a bolt-on construction. The scale length is 25.5 inches, adhering to the standard Fender measurement.
The rosewood fretboard features a 7.25-inch radius and PRS’s signature small bird inlays. The 22 frets are equipped with PRS Medium Fret Wire.

Pickups and Electronics
The guitar features three 635JM Single-Coil pickups, specifically designed for John Mayer. PRS states these pickups deliver a full, warm tone with musical highs that avoid sounding harsh or brittle. The control layout includes a single volume control and two tone controls. A 5-way switch provides access to various pickup combinations, mirroring the classic Stratocaster configuration.

The PRS Steel Tremolo is based on a classic design, updated with Gen III Knife-Edge screws and the company’s proprietary tremolo arm system. The tuners are vintage-style and feature the PRS Locking system.
All metal parts are nickel-plated, and the nut is made of bone. The guitar comes factory-strung with PRS Signature strings, gauge 10-46.
