PZU Appoints New Board of Directors with Bogdan Benczak as CEO

The supervisory board of PZU SA, the largest insurance provider in the region, has officially appointed Bogdan Benczak as the CEO for a new term. The decision, finalized on April 14, 2026, follows a formal qualification process for the company’s entire management board after the previous term expired at the end of 2025.

Benczak, who had been leading the company for approximately six months after winning a previous competition following the removal of Andrzej Klesyka, will continue to steer the insurance giant. This appointment provides leadership continuity for the organization as it navigates its strategic objectives.

New Management Board Composition

Alongside the confirmation of Benczak as CEO, the supervisory board announced the full composition of the new management board. The following executives have been appointed for the current term:

The new lineup marks a shift in the executive team, as Tomasz Kulik (formerly the board member for financial affairs) and Bartosz Grześkowiak are no longer part of the management board.

Executive Profile: Bogdan Benczak

Bogdan Benczak brings extensive legal and managerial expertise to the role. An attorney-at-law, he is a graduate of the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Law, holds a postgraduate degree from the Kraków Academy of Economics, and earned an MBA from the University of Gdańsk.

Benczak’s career is defined by significant leadership roles within the PZU Group and the broader Baltic insurance market. His previous experience includes:

  • PZU Group: Served as President of the PZU Foundation (2008-2015), and Director of both the Corporate Business Development Office and the Foreign Operations Office (2008-2014).
  • Baltic Operations: Held various leadership positions including President of UAB PZU Lietuva (2010-2014), President of UAB PZU Lietuva Gyvybes Draudimas (2009-2017), and President of AAS BALTA (2014-2017), while simultaneously serving as the Foreign Operations Managing Director at PZU SA. He was also a member of the management board at AB Lietuvos Draudimas from 2015 to 2017.
  • External Leadership: Served as Member and President of the Management Board at ERGO Insurance SE / ERGO Life Insurance SE from 2018 to 2022, and as CEO of ADB Gjensidige Lietuva from 2023 to 2024.

In addition to his executive role, Benczak maintains several supervisory positions. He currently chairs the supervisory boards of Bank Pekao SA, PZU Życie SA, and PZU Zdrowie. He also serves as a member of the supervisory board for Link4 TU S.A. And the Audit Committee of the Polish Insurance Chamber. According to company records, he has also held supervisory roles at the Polish National Foundation and various PZU entities in Ukraine, and Lithuania.

The streamlined appointment process—which saw applications close on March 27 and interviews start shortly thereafter—underscores the board’s intent to stabilize leadership at the regional insurance leader.
