‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Star Wendy Osefo and Husband Arrested on Fraud Charges
“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested today following a grand jury indictment alleging they falsely reported a home burglary and theft in Maryland.
Wendy Osefo, 41, faces 16 charges related to making false/misleading information fraud and making false statements to an officer, while her husband, also 41, faces 18 similar charges, according to court records. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the couple’s Finksburg home on April 7, 2024, after they reported a burglary and the theft of over $200,000 worth of jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and shoes, claiming the incident occurred while they were on vacation.
During the investigation, detectives discovered approximately $20,000 of the allegedly stolen items had been returned to the stores where they were purchased, and images surfaced showing Wendy Osefo wearing jewelry reported as stolen after the alleged burglary. A search warrant was executed at their home yesterday, leading to their arrest and subsequent release after posting bond. This incident raises questions about the potential legal ramifications for reality television personalities and their public reporting of crimes. A spokesperson for the couple stated, “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
Eddie Osefo is an attorney and founder of the cannabis brand, Happy Eddie, and frequently appears alongside his wife on “Real Housewives of Potomac,” which premiered in 2016 on Bravo. The arrests follow a recent legal issue for another cast member, Karen Huger, who was released from prison weeks ago after serving a sentence for driving under the influence. Authorities have stated they will continue to pursue the case.
