Rosie O’Donnell Asks for Prayers as Daughter Chelsea Sentenced to Prison

Rosie O’Donnell has publicly asked for prayers for her daughter, Chelsea, after she was sentenced to prison following multiple arrests and a probation revocation.

Yesterday, October 29, O’Donnell shared a childhood photo of Chelsea on Instagram with a caption reading, “My child chelsea belle — before addiction took over her life… Loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed.” The post included hashtags related to addiction, love, and family, and was intended to raise awareness. Chelsea’s legal troubles have been ongoing for several years, highlighting the challenges families face when dealing with addiction.

Court documents from the Marinette County Wisconsin Circuit Court show Chelsea had her probation revoked and was sentenced on October 22 following three arrests in the past year. She pled guilty in January to charges including possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping, and was initially sentenced to six years probation. O’Donnell released a statement to People, stating, “I have compassion for those struggling with addiction — Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”

O’Donnell adopted Chelsea in 1997, and previously sought public assistance in 2015 when Chelsea went missing for a week. The actress has been open about the difficulties of parenting and the impact of fame on her children, previously writing on Substack, “I wish i could delete my fame for her.” Officials have not yet announced details regarding the length of Chelsea’s prison sentence, but are continuing to provide support services to her and her family.
