The 33rd Southeast Asian Games concluded Saturday, December 20, 2025, with a grand closing ceremony held at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok. The games, which began December 9th, saw athletes from across ASEAN compete and captivated fans throughout the region, particularly with strong performances from the Thai national team.
The closing ceremony, themed “The Sound of Champions,” officially began at 7:00 PM local time, celebrating the dedication, achievements, and camaraderie of athletes from 11 ASEAN nations. The event featured a vibrant display of music, athletic prowess, and national pride, showcasing Thailand’s hospitality as the host country.
The ceremony’s highlights included an opening performance titled “The Sound of Whistle…Echoes of Competition,” followed by a parade of athletes representing all 54 sports contested at the Games. Thai artists Pita “Tah Wu” and R Siam also delivered special performances, singing anthems of victory and creating a warm and memorable atmosphere as the 2025 SEA Games drew to a close.
A key moment was the extinguishing of the SEA Games flame and the official handover of the SEA Games flag to Malaysia, the host nation for the 34th edition in 2027. The handover included a special performance from the Malaysian delegation, symbolizing the continuation of friendship and the spirit of ASEAN sports.
