South Korea is experiencing a sharp rise in temperatures, with forecasts predicting highs of 27 degrees Celsius (81 degrees Fahrenheit) across much of the country this weekend.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Saturday will bring mostly clear and dry conditions nationwide, though significant temperature variations between day and night are expected. Morning lows will range from 7 to 11 degrees Celsius in major cities, while afternoon highs climb to 27 degrees in Seoul and reach the mid-20s in other regions including Daejeon, Jeonju, Gwangju, and Daegu.
The large diurnal temperature spread—potentially reaching 20 degrees in some areas—has prompted health advisories, particularly due to the increased risk of illness from rapid weather shifts. Officials also warned of heightened fire dangers in central and northeastern areas, where dry weather warnings are in effect, urging caution with outdoor flames, debris burning, and activities near forested zones.
Air quality is expected to remain favorable, with fine dust levels ranging from “great” to “moderate” across all regions.
Looking ahead, rain is forecast to develop late Sunday night into Monday, beginning in the capital region and extending to parts of Gangwon and Chungcheong provinces. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist into Tuesday, with continued cloud cover and scattered showers affecting central areas.
