  • The company intends to expand its production facility in Dubnica nad Váhom and is also exploring acquisitions of other Slovak defense companies.
  • Following the state and the Strnad family, a third major player may emerge in the Slovak defense sector.

The largest private investor in the Slovak defense industry – the Czech Strnad family – continues to announce significant investments. Recent announcements include the launch of Tatra truck production and new ammunition production lines. Now, another Czech defense company is establishing a foothold in Slovakia.

STV Invest, a group led by Martin Drda with a workforce of 1,400 and projected revenue exceeding €1 billion this year, is initiating production of armored hulls for BMP-1 heavy infantry fighting vehicles at its facility in Dubnica nad Váhom. The company aims to produce approximately 100 of these vehicles annually once full production capacity is reached.

STV is utilizing the former facilities of Matador Industries, previously owned by the well-known Rosinovci family, which it acquired during the summer of 2023. The company has since rebranded the facility as STV Machinery and is repurposing it for this new production line.

STV signaled its intention to expand production at its new Dubnica nad Váhom acquisition a year ago, and also expressed interest in acquiring other Slovak defense companies. This move could position STV as a third significant force in the domestic defense industry, alongside the state and the Strnad family. The expansion reflects growing demand within the region and increasing investment in defense capabilities.
