TastArròs 2026: Valencia’s Grand Rice Festival Returns with Tradition and Innovation

TastArròs 2026 returns to Valencia’s historic city center as the popular rice festival transforms Plaza del Ayuntamiento into a vibrant celebration of regional cuisine. The ninth edition of the event officially kicked off on Saturday, April 25, 2026, drawing thousands of visitors eager to sample traditional and innovative rice dishes. Organizers confirmed that twenty-seven participating restaurants will serve a variety of arroces throughout the weekend, ranging from classic Valencian paella to creative modern interpretations. All dishes feature rice bearing the Denominación de Origen Arròs de València certification, specifically using the Senia, Albufera, and Bomba varieties. Beyond food tastings, the festival includes live cooking demonstrations led by renowned chefs such as Quique Dacosta, Vicky Sevilla, and Manu Yarza. Attendees can as well enjoy music performances, family-friendly workshops, and exhibitions showcasing traditional fishing tools from the Albufera region. A special urban rice-drying activity is set for 11:30 a.m. On April 25, where 10,000 kilograms of rice will be dried using time-honored methods. A “Fastest Farmer of Albufera” competition will challenge participants in a fun, skill-based contest, with the winner earning a meal for two at their favorite TastArròs restaurant. The event continues through Sunday, April 26, 2026, with activities running all day in the heart of Valencia’s historic district. Admission to the plaza is free, though food servings are offered at popular prices. Visitors are encouraged to use public transit, with nearby Metro lines L1 and L2, as well as bus routes 9, 26, 27, 60, 70, and C1 providing access to the venue.
