TESLA Announces New Covers Album Focused on Jeff Keith’s Vocal Range
Rock band TESLA is currently working on a new album comprised entirely of cover songs, specifically chosen to highlight the vocal abilities of frontman Jeff Keith.
Guitarist Frank Hannon revealed the project during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” stating the album features “some really obscure classic songs that you would not expect to hear from TESLA.” Hannon explained the inspiration, saying, “We’re doing a collection of songs that showcase Jeff Keith’s singing ability… it’s centered around his ability to sing and his soulfulness in his voice.” Bassist Brian Wheat is producing the album, with recent recording sessions taking place in Las Vegas.
The band has already been performing some of the planned covers live, including a rendition of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit” and a version of Climax Blues Band’s “I Love You,” the latter of which has gained significant traction on streaming platforms like Spotify. Keith personally selected many of the tracks, with the setlist also including songs by The Temptations. This project arrives after the band completed a five-song residency at the House Of Blues Las Vegas inside Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino, demonstrating their continued commitment to live performance and fan engagement.
TESLA’s latest EP, “All About Love,” was released in November 2024, and followed their 2019 album “Shock.” The band is expected to continue working on the covers project in the coming months, with no firm release date announced.
Hannon indicated the band will share more details as the project progresses, and fans can find more information about TESLA and their upcoming events on their official website.
