Colombian television said goodbye to a beloved comedy and interview format on Sunday, March 1, as Caracol Televisión aired the final episode of ‘The Suso’s Show.’ Hosted by comedian Dany Hoyos, the show entertained audiences for over 16 years, initially launching on Telemedellín. Throughout its run, the program featured more than 600 guests who shared personal stories and experiences with viewers.

Though the cancellation had been previously announced, the final broadcast was filled with nostalgia. The farewell was an emotional moment for both the show’s team and its dedicated fanbase, who have followed the character for over a decade on Colombian television.

A Fond Farewell to ‘The Suso’s Show’

Dany Hoyos first shared a message of gratitude on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on February 28. He previewed the final episode and thanked everyone involved in the project.

“Today I just want to thank everyone: the more than 600 guests, Telemedellín, Caracol Televisión and the entire team that was behind it all this time so that you could have this goofball in your home. Tomorrow a cycle ends, a cycle that was historic in Colombian television. It’s not the end, it’s just the beginning of bigger things. See you at 6pm,” he wrote.

As promised, the final episode aired on Sunday. Before concluding the show, Hoyos took several minutes to formally bid farewell to the audience, clarifying that the decision to end the show was a voluntary one. He explained that he wanted to address the matter directly to avoid speculation and emphasize that it was a personal choice.

Staying true to his comedic style, Hoyos blended humor and honesty during his farewell. He revealed that he had suggested to Caracol Televisión that it was time “to take a break,” and playfully recounted offers he received to take on other roles within the network. “When I told them I wanted to take a break, they were very sad given that the show’s rating is like a obese person’s triglycerides: up and up every day. So they asked if I wanted something else. They proposed replacing Jorge Alfredo Vargas on the news, but I needed to lose some weight; they also proposed replacing Carlos Calero on ‘Día a Día,’ but I needed some gray hair; or replacing Carlos Vargas on ‘La Red,’ but I needed some feathers. Caracol Televisión, along with the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal, are the best channels in the world,” he joked.

Finally, Suso invited his followers to continue connecting with him on social media, his YouTube channel, and at his theater performances. “It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later,” he said, bringing an end to a significant chapter in Colombian entertainment television. The show’s long run reflects the enduring appeal of talk-variety formats in Latin American media.
