‘Shuck Cancer Wilmington’ Event to Benefit Cancer Research and Patient Support

The American Cancer Society will host its third annual ‘Shuck Cancer Wilmington’ fundraising event this Thursday, November 6th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bluewater Waterfront Grill, aiming to raise critical funds for cancer research and patient care.

The event will bring together community and business leaders for an evening featuring food pairings from local restaurants, oysters, complimentary beer and wine (with a cash bar option), live entertainment, and both live and silent auctions. Individual tickets are priced at $100, with couple’s tickets available for $175. Former Carolina Hurricanes announcer Chuck Kaiton will emcee the evening.

Proceeds from ‘Shuck Cancer Wilmington’ will directly support life-saving programs, including transportation and lodging assistance for patients undergoing treatment, as well as a 24/7 support line. Cancer remains a leading cause of death in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society, making fundraising efforts like this vital. Attendees are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Good Shepherd Center in Wilmington.

Organizers say the event provides a unique opportunity to support the fight against cancer while enjoying a festive atmosphere overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. You can find more information about the American Cancer Society’s work in North Carolina here.

Event organizers stated they hope to exceed last year’s fundraising total and continue to expand support for cancer patients and research initiatives in the region.
