Super Evil Megacorp is expanding its action-roguelike, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, with a new downloadable content (DLC) pack featuring Alopex, a mutant arctic fox and skilled ninja assassin. The addition of a new playable character underscores the game’s design as a continually evolving cooperative experience.

Alopex Joins the Fight, Changing the Pace of Gameplay

The headline addition is Alopex, who joins the roster as a paid downloadable character. Her combat style prioritizes aggression and speed, diverging from a balanced approach.

Equipped with a kama resembling a sickle, Alopex excels at chaining rapid attacks and swiftly traversing groups of enemies. At close range, her kunai inflict significant damage, and her ability to briefly become invulnerable while linking attacks presents a high-risk, high-reward playstyle.

The character’s kit integrates seamlessly with existing game systems. Ninja modifiers that affect shuriken – including elemental variations like fire or water – likewise alter the behavior of her kunai, expanding strategic combinations within each playthrough.

The DLC also introduces five new artifacts that significantly modify gameplay. Some reduce cooldown times in exchange for increased damage, while others penalize mobility to provide more potent temporary bonuses. A new Utrom ally is also included, evolving throughout each run and adding another layer of progression.

Free Content for Veterans Seeking a Greater Challenge

Alongside the paid content, Super Evil Megacorp is releasing a free expansion focused on increasing variety and difficulty. New combat rooms are being added, set in locations including sewers, docks, streets, and rooftops, expanding the possible scenarios within the campaign.

Arcade Mode also receives four additional challenges designed for experienced players. These runs begin with curses already active, forcing players to rethink strategies and builds from the start. This update aims to provide a more demanding experience for those who have already mastered the base content.

A new Ninja Rank system is also being introduced, a prestige mechanic that rewards consistency and mastery of the game. Completing runs, overcoming challenges, and progressing in difficulty increases a player’s reputation, adding a long-term objective and reinforcing the competitive element, particularly in cooperative play.

A Roguelike That Continues to Grow After Launch

Since its release, Splintered Fate has relied on a structure based on variable runs, random upgrades, and bosses with different modifiers. This foundation allows new elements to fit without disrupting the overall balance.

The local cooperative mode for up to four players remains a key feature, encouraging coordination, skill combination, and joint decision-making. Balance adjustments included in the update refine the combat pace and improve quality-of-life aspects that make a difference in advanced runs.

With the arrival of Alopex and a suite of free content, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate reinforces its identity as a dynamic and constantly evolving roguelike. The sewers still hold challenges, and each new run promises to be more unpredictable than the last.
