Fans are saddened by news that Tom Hardy is stepping back from acting following the completion of his latest crime drama, MobLand. The British film star reportedly intends to seize a break as the physical demands of his roles have taken a toll.

According to reports, Hardy feels as though his body is “falling apart.” The 47-year-old actor, known for his iconic roles and breathtaking stunts in films like The Dark Knight Rises and Mad Max: Fury Road, shared in an interview published May 9th that the physical strain of filming is now taking its toll.

“I loved playing Eddie in Venom. I was juggling chainsaws… They position me on a unicycle and threw me about with everything! I was just trying to grant it everything I had,” Hardy said.

He continued, “I’ve had two knee operations, I have a disc problem in my back, I suffer from sciatica, and I’ve got plantar fasciitis.” Hardy added, “Where did all this reach from? And why? Why? And then a hamstring goes.” He concluded, “It’s all just falling apart and there’s no hope of it getting better.”

Despite the physical challenges, Hardy has not slowed down his work pace. This news comes as the actor continues to be a prominent figure in the film industry, and highlights the physical sacrifices often made by performers committed to delivering immersive and action-packed roles.

In a 2022 Instagram post, Hardy reflected on the importance of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, stating, “Training for me (as a hobby and a personal love) has been key to further developing my inner resilience, calm and wellbeing. I can’t explain the significance of it, nor the impact it has had on my life, and those around me, but it’s been a beautiful thing.” He also expressed his honor in representing the non-profit organization REORG, which works with veterans and active military personnel.

Earlier, in September 2022, Hardy surprised many by winning gold at the Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2022 at UMAC, after unexpectedly entering the competition.
