Top Gun 3 Confirmed: Tom Cruise to Return

Tom Cruise is set to return as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in “Top Gun 3,” Paramount confirmed during its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on April 16, 2026. The announcement, made by Paramount Pictures Co-Chair Josh Greenstein, confirmed that the sequel is “in development with a script underway,” reuniting Cruise with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Whereas a director has not yet been named, Joseph Kosinski, who directed “Top Gun: Maverick,” remains a possibility. “Top Gun: Maverick,” released in 2022, grossed $1.5 billion worldwide and became the fifth-highest-grossing film in domestic box office history.
