According to a ministry statement, “Specialists of Russian special services conducted a special technical examination of the navigation unit of one of the Ukrainian UAVs shot down on the night of December 29, 2025, in the Novgorod region. Experts were able to extract files containing flight plans from the navigation unit.”
The data obtained from the files indicates that one of President Putin’s residences in the Novgorod region was the intended target of the drone, the ministry said.
“This data will be transferred to the American side through established channels,” the ministry added.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Monday that Kyiv’s forces attempted to strike a residence of President Putin in the Novgorod region.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as the conflict continues to escalate. The sharing of this data with the United States could have implications for future security cooperation and intelligence sharing between the two countries.
