Students participating in community service from Muhammadiyah University of Gresik (UMG), Group 14, completed a program to create neighborhood signage (RT/RW) for Jatirowo Village on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
The group was led by Muhammad Rifqi Hidayat S, and supervised by Ifahda Pratama Hapsari SH MH.
The initiative aimed to clarify neighborhood boundaries and strengthen administrative order at the local level.
Improving Accessibility for Residents
The new signage is intended to support residents easily identify the boundaries of their RT and RW areas. This improved clarity is expected to make data collection, information dissemination, and public services more effective and targeted.
The program to create and install the RT/RW signs in Jatirowo Village was based on the importance of clear territorial identification as part of excellent village governance.
In some cases, the lack of, or inadequate, neighborhood markers can create challenges in population data collection, mail delivery, and other public services.
newcomers, visitors, and delivery services often struggle to find specific addresses due to a lack of clear signage.
The creation and installation of the signs began with consultations with village officials and local RT and RW leaders.
Sign Creation Process
This initial phase included identifying needs, determining the number of signs required, and selecting appropriate installation locations based on the area’s layout.
The design phase focused on creating signs that were easy to read, weather-resistant, and aesthetically pleasing to maintain the village’s appearance.
The subsequent phase involved procuring materials, printing or painting the text, and assembling the sign frames. Quality checks were performed to ensure the signs were durable, legible, and suitable for installation.
Once completed, the signs were installed in the designated locations, prioritizing safety, visibility, and accessibility for both residents and passersby.
Village officials assisted with the installation process. Residents expressed positive feedback and welcomed the new signage for Jatirowo Village.
“With these RT and RW signs, it’s now easier for us to direct guests or couriers to our homes. We no longer have trouble locating addresses,” said one resident.
