Çatalı’s descent began, he said, with the belief that “nothing will come of just one try.” In a farewell video recorded before his death, Çatalı stated, “Everyone, please forgive me. Those who gamble ultimately gamble with their lives. I learned that. I have reached the end of the road. My relationship with my family and everyone else is broken. I am a veteran, and I have lost my reputation. It all started with the thought that ‘nothing will come of just one try.’ Unfortunately, I became addicted.”
