In a stunning upset in the Taça de liga quarterfinals, Vitória de Guimarães defeated host FC Porto 3-1 on Thursday evening at the Estádio do Dragão. The victory secures Vitória de Guimarães a spot in the competition’s final four, where they will face Sporting. this result marks a important moment in the 19th edition of the Portuguese League Cup, as the tournament progresses toward its January culmination in leiria.

Vitória de Guimarães stunned host FC Porto with a 3-1 victory on Thursday, securing their place in the Taça de Liga (League Cup) semi-finals. The result came in the final quarterfinal matchup, despite falling behind early in the contest.

FC Porto drew first blood at the Estádio do Dragão, taking the lead just eight minutes into the match. However, Vitória de Guimarães responded before halftime, with Nelson Oliveira converting a penalty kick in the 31st minute to level the score.

Samu put the visitors ahead in the 53rd minute, and although a goal was disallowed for offsides eight minutes later, Camara sealed the victory with another successful penalty in the 79th minute, extending the final score to 3-1.

Vitória de Guimarães will now face Sporting in the semi-finals of the competition. The other semi-final will pit defending champions Benfica against Sporting de Braga.

This season marks the 19th edition of the Taça da Liga, with the “final four” matches scheduled for January 6th and 7th, and the final taking place on January 10th – all at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria.
