Slovak supermarket chain Billa has begun integrating ATMs directly into checkout counters in select locations, offering customers a novel way to access cash while completing their grocery shopping. The service, currently available in Billa stores with the upgraded checkout systems, allows customers of select banks to withdraw funds during the payment process, streamlining errands and potentially reducing the need for separate ATM visits.
Banka už mesiace avizovala, že k výrazným zmenám pristúpi. Chce to mať hotové na konci roka.
Slovakia’s second-largest bank, VÚB, is moving forward with a phased transition of its customers to a new mobile banking application, VÚB Banking. The bank is now notifying customers via SMS that their existing app will soon become obsolete. “From November 20, 2025, you will lose access to managing your personal finances in the original VÚB Mobile Banking app. Activate the new app at: app.vub.sk/app/aktiv-apku,” the bank states in the messages.
The transition is being rolled out gradually, migrating customers to the new application in stages.
Original App to Focus on Business Clients
According to the bank, the original application will remain available for businesses, self-employed individuals, and legal entities in the coming months. It is being phased out for individual customers. This move reflects a broader trend among financial institutions to streamline their digital offerings and focus resources on specific client segments.
VÚB reported in September that over half of its customers were already using the new application, or had both versions installed. The bank also announced plans to continually expand the new app’s functionality, with features like online mortgage processing and virtual cards slated for addition.
VÚB expects the complete migration to the new application to be finished by the end of the year. Following this, the original app will undergo rebranding and be repurposed as a solution exclusively for business clientele.
