Wieczysta Kraków Sacks Sławomir Peszko Amid Promotion Struggle
Wieczysta Kraków has officially parted ways with head coach Sławomir Peszko, announcing the decision on Friday, April 18, 2025. The move comes as the club’s ambitions for direct promotion to the next tier face increasing pressure.

The breaking point arrived following a frustrating 2-2 draw against Świt Szczecin (Świt Skolwin) on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Although Peszko’s side showed resilience by fighting back from a 0-2 deficit to secure a point, the nature of the performance prompted the club’s leadership to terminate their collaboration with the former Polish international.
Peszko, who took over the managerial reins on September 18, 2023, oversaw 53 league matches across the III and II leagues, as well as one Fortuna Puchar Polski fixture. His tenure was highlighted by a successful 2023/24 campaign, in which he led the “yellow-and-blacks” to promotion into the Betclic II liga.
Despite the coaching change, Wieczysta currently maintains second place in the Betclic II liga table with 58 points, sitting level with third-place Polonia Bytom. However, a dip in form during the spring half of the season has jeopardized their hopes for an automatic promotion spot, with the team managing only four wins in their last eight matches.
The club confirmed that assistant coach Rafał Jędrszczyk will step up to take over the head coaching duties.
Wieczysta Kraków continues to be one of the most talked-about projects in the division due to its significant financial backing and a roster packed with veteran talent. The squad currently features several former Ekstraklasa stars, including Jacek Góralski, Michał Pazdan, Rafał Pietrzak, Simeon Slavchev, Maciej Jankowski, Sasa Zivec, Michał Mak, Karol Danielak, and Michał Trąbka.
For Peszko, the role served as his first foray into head coaching. The 40-year-old is a legendary figure at Lech Poznań, where he made 99 appearances and scored 19 goals. His playing career was marked by a Championship, a Supercup, and the 2009 Polish Cup, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Ruch Chorzów.
