California Students Can Apply for Spring 2026 Young Legislators Program
Assemblywoman Maggy Krell is accepting applications for the Spring 2026 Young Legislators Program, a free initiative offering high school students a hands-on learning experience in California state government.
The three-month program, running February, March, and May of 2026, is open to juniors and seniors currently residing in or attending high school within Assembly District 6. Participants will gain insight into the legislative process through sessions held in the State Capitol, developing leadership and research skills along the way. The program aims to cultivate the next generation of civic leaders, a crucial investment given increasing concerns about youth engagement in politics.
Students interested in applying must submit an essay addressing the most important policy issue facing Sacramento. The application deadline is Friday, December 5, 2025. Eligibility is limited to students aged 16-18. Residents can verify their Assembly District to confirm they meet the location requirements. The program is entirely free of charge to participants.
Those selected will be notified via email or phone call from Assemblywoman Krell’s office. Interested students can find additional information and contact details at (916) 324-4676.
