A 15-year-old Santiago student who went missing Wednesday afternoon has been found safe in Providencia,Chile,sparking relief adn highlighting the power of community response. kytzia Zamora Gómez,a student at Liceo Carmela Carvajal,prompted a widespread search involving police,school officials,and local residents after she lost contact with her mother. While the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain under investigation by the PDI’s Briup unit, authorities confirmed Saturday that Zamora Gómez has been reunited with her family and is in good health.

A teenage girl who had been missing since Wednesday afternoon has been found safe, authorities in Providencia, Chile, confirmed Saturday. Kytzia Zamora Gómez, a student at Liceo Carmela Carvajal, was reported missing after leaving school and losing contact with her mother.

The 15-year-old, also known to her peers as Francis, was last seen around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday near Elena Blanco Street, approximately five blocks from her school. She was carrying a backpack, a fanny pack, and a bag containing items she was selling to earn money, according to reports.

Providencia Mayor Jaime Bellolio announced the positive outcome on social media, expressing gratitude for the widespread community effort in locating Zamora Gómez. “I want to thank the entire community of Providencia and particularly the community of Carmela Carvajal for all the help that has meant during these last three days in being able to search for Kytzia Zamora, a student in our community who has now been found,” Bellolio stated.

Police said Zamora Gómez’s mother, Stephanie Gómez, had reported her daughter’s phone was discovered in a trash can at the intersection of Miguel Claro and Elena Blanco streets, after using a tracking application to locate it.

The Municipal Security Squad 1414 searched bridges and surrounding areas while disseminating information on social media. Authorities also reviewed security camera footage from the Santiago Metro system to trace the girl’s possible route.

The school community organized search teams and distributed flyers with contact information. The case highlights the swift response and collaboration between local authorities, schools, and residents when a young person goes missing.

The Investigative Police (PDI) confirmed Zamora Gómez is now with her family and in good condition. The PDI’s Metropolitan Persons Location Brigade (Briup) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Search efforts were underway for Kytzia Zamora in Providencia.

Authorities had initially investigated the disappearance as a possible incident of foul play, prompting a coordinated search effort involving local police and community members.
