For iOS users, the frustration of forgetting where you parked may soon be a thing of the past. Google Maps has rolled out an automatic parking location saving feature too its iOS app,a function previously available only to Android users. The update, announced December 9th, automatically records a user’s parking spot and allows them to mark it with custom icons within the request.
Google Maps on iOS now automatically saves your parking location, a feature long available on Android. The update aims to simplify the often frustrating task of remembering where you left your vehicle.
To enable the feature, navigate to Settings/Navigation within the Google Maps app and toggle on Automatically save parking under Parking options.

The feature works when using Google Maps for navigation, whether connected to CarPlay or not. Alternatively, users can allow Google Maps to continuously track their location, though this is not recommended, and the app will attempt to identify parking spots based on sensor data.
Once enabled, users can find their parked location directly on the Google Maps map or by tapping the “You” button and selecting “Parking.”

Google Maps will automatically delete the saved parking location when you drive away using Google Maps navigation, or after 48 hours if you haven’t. This feature underscores the ongoing effort to improve the user experience within navigation apps.
Apple Maps also offers a similar parking location feature. The addition to Google Maps provides iOS users with an alternative solution.
