JAKARTA – Donny Fattah, bassist and founding member of the legendary Indonesian rock band God Bless, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Fatmawati Hospital in Jakarta. He was 76 years old.

Fattah’s death comes after a multi-year battle with a combination of serious health issues. The news has sent ripples through the Indonesian music scene, where he was a highly respected figure.

Prior to his passing, Donny was diagnosed with sarcopenia, vascular blockage and an autoimmune disease. These conditions significantly impacted his physical health, particularly in his lower body.

Sarcopenia, characterized by the loss of muscle mass and strength, led to a decline in his physical capabilities. He also experienced vascular blockage, a condition that impeded blood flow to certain parts of his body.

In 2025, Donny described his upper body as remaining strong, but the weakness in his legs made it demanding for him to stand for extended periods, requiring him to use a walking stick for support.

To manage his illnesses, Donny underwent intensive treatment, reportedly taking around 32 different medications and vitamins daily for nearly two years. While he persevered with treatment, he also experienced side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision.

Despite his declining health, Donny remained committed to his music with God Bless. His dedication underscores his enduring passion for rock and roll, a genre he helped shape in Indonesia.

Daily Medication Regimen

Donny’s treatment plan involved a complex regimen of approximately 32 medications and vitamins each day. He had been following this intensive course of treatment for the two years leading up to his death.

However, the large number of medications also caused various side effects, including dizziness and blurred vision, as he previously shared.

The loss of Donny Fattah marks the end of an era for Indonesian rock music. His contributions to God Bless and the broader music landscape will be remembered for generations to come.
