Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – April 24, 2026

The medical and surgical team from Saudi Arabia’s program for conjoined twins has completed the fourth and fifth stages of the separation procedure for Filipino twins Clia and Maurice Ann, following an 18-and-a-half-hour complex operation.

The surgery, described as one of the most challenging cases of its kind globally, took place at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh, which is part of the King Abdulaziz Medical City under the Ministry of National Guard.

The team confirmed the successful progression of the separation process after overcoming significant anatomical challenges during the lengthy procedure.

The operation began under directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to advanced medical interventions for rare pediatric cases.

Officials noted that the completion of these critical phases marks a major milestone in the ongoing effort to separate the twins safely, with further stages planned in the coming days.

The case has drawn international attention due to its rarity and the high level of surgical precision required, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s growing role in handling complex medical cases on a global scale.
