Ragini Das Named Head of Google for Startups – India

Ragini Das, co-founder of the women-focused professional network Leap.club, has been appointed as the Head of Google for Startups – India, marking a significant moment in her career.

Das shared on social media that the appointment feels like a “full circle” moment, recalling being rejected by Google for a position in 2013. She subsequently joined Zomato, where she spent six years and contributed to the growth of Zomato Gold before leaving in 2019. “Zomato helped me identify my career moat, gave me lifelong friends, an incredibly steep learning curve and the resilience to eventually co-found Leap.club,” she wrote. This move highlights the increasing importance Google places on supporting the Indian startup ecosystem.

In 2019, Das founded Leap.club, a professional networking community for women, which she described as her “most defining chapter.” While Leap.club paused operations earlier this year due to financial challenges, Das found a new opportunity at Google that aligned with her experience. “Sometime in August, I came across a role at Google that perfectly aligned with my journey,” she revealed. Google for Startups provides resources and support to help startups grow, and India is a key market for innovation. You can learn more about Google for Startups on their official website.

Das expressed excitement about bringing the global impact of Google for Startups to India, emphasizing the role’s intersection with early-stage founders and her previous work. She intends to leverage her experience to foster growth within the Indian startup landscape, building on the foundation laid by previous initiatives.

Das will begin her new role immediately, focusing on expanding Google’s support for Indian startups and contributing to the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
