Ukraine Claims Heavy Russian Losses in Eastern Counteroffensive

Ukrainian forces are reportedly inflicting significant casualties on Russian troops during a counteroffensive in the Donetsk region, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a claim that contrasts with assertions from Moscow regarding battlefield control.

Zelenskiy stated in his nightly address today that he spoke for nearly an hour with top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi, focusing on the “Dobropillia operation, our counteroffensive,” and reported heavy casualties in the area. Ukraine has recently highlighted successes near Dobropillia, north of the key logistics hub of Pokrovsk, which Russia has been attempting to advance towards.
